Lowell is a city in Benton County, located within the Ozarks. The first settlement was along Old Wire Road in the 1840s, and although destroyed during the Civil War, the community was reestablished  and thrived when the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway came through the area in the 1880s. Today, the city is a growing bedroom community of the larger nearby and rapidly growing towns of Fayetteville, Bentonville and Rogers.

Lowell is also home to the headquarters of trucking company J.B. Hunt which is one of the areas largest employers. Due to the steady economy here, this area has seen significant growth over the past 10 years.
